I've been through some tremendous tornado events through the years, but the storms of this past week were some of the longest duration events I've ever seen. We were very fortunate to miss the Tuscaloosa type destruction that could have very easily occurred here instead of Alabama.
I've almost lost count of the days and the number of hours that we were on the air with wall to wall weather coverage. A big tip of the hat to Todd Demers, Jim Jaggers and Austen Onek for their incredible effort while we were in the midst of mulitple tornado warnings. Our news room was fully staffed with people dedicated to making sure we were first and accurate in our reporting of the incredible weather event.
Now that the threat of killer tornadoes is over, our focus is on potentially historic flooding. The next few weeks will be very difficult for residents along the Mississippi river or any of the other local rivers, streams and tributaries.
I'm posting some pictures from the past few days.
