Helping Those In Need

The Christmas season is here and for many during this holiday, it won't seem like any other Christmas they've experienced.  The economy is flat and folks are hurting.  I don't know about you, but I'm familiar with more than a few folks who are without jobs right now.

We've always tried to teach our kids to be on the lookout for those in need.  Unfortunately, this Christmas we won't have to look very far.  Christmas is about giving and as a family we're trying to do our part to meet some needs that we're aware of.

One of the best ways to help out is through the Salvation Army's Red Kettle campaign.  You see those faithful volunteers ringing the bells every Christmas in front of department stores, but where does the money go?  The money we give goes to help those in our community who may be homeless, jobless, battling drug addiction or in an abusive relationship.  The Salvation Army offers more than just money to people--they offer hope!  They help people overcome the major obstacles in their lives at a time when they may be most desperate.

I feel very blessed today to be able to work at News Channel 3.  But I also have a responsibility to help others.  I hope you'll join me in donating to the Red Kettle Campaign.  You can donate in person while you're out shopping, or you can make a donation online at www.wreg.com
